New York

In July I went to New York for just over a week. I love cities and really there's nowhere that makes me feel as good as i do in New York. I wanted to spend my week with headphones on and my camera in my hand.

I spent the first couple of days taking just touristy type shots of the buildings and things like that and I thought they were a bit boring. I wanted to be able to take some photos that conveyed what it's like to walk through New York. I changed how i was taking photos and tried not to think too much about what i was doing and just shoot a lot.

New York was also where i bought my 50mm f1.8 lens and I'm really glad i did.

I was taking some photographs in Time Square one night when i noticed this kid slowly standing in my view, he then proceeded to wave and trying to get my attention. He stopped me and asked if I'd take a photo of him jumping. It was probably one of the highlights of my week.

New blog

So I'm starting a blog.

I've been wanting to do this for some time and its nice to get round to doing it. I wanted to be able to have somewhere where i can write about what I'm doing and what I've done photography wise and feel a blog is the best way to do it. I'd like to give some of my photos a bit room to breath as i feel they can get lost or overshadowed on flickr.

I can be overly critical of myself and my photos so I'm going to try and keep this to a positive blog about the things that make me feel good and the things that I'm proud of.

My friend Mark has been designing me a website and I can't wait for it to go live. I got a sneak peak today and Mark has done an amazing job.
